DRAFTING NEWSPAPER ADVERTISEMENT

Drafted Copy of Newspaper Advertisement
The newspaper the this advertisement will appear in must be relevant to the audience we are seeking. Because our documentary is based upon takeouts our audience is most likely going to be younger people from teenagers to early thirties as they are the majority of the population who consume takeaways. Thus, our documentary should be in a newspaper that young adults read, just like the television channel, Channel 4. I think that our advertisement should appear in The Sun or News of The World.

Initial Handmade Draft

We will use the Channel 4 logo as that is where our documentary will be aired on. This logo will follow the codes and conventions of print adverts by being placed on the right hand side of the image.

Photographs Taken For The Print Advert

Photoshop Edit

Here, I edited the Channel 4 logo to make it fit the colour scheme of our print advert and to have no background so it could be placed over the central image. This will then be placed onto the right hand side of the advert.

This is the initial idea of the print advert. The photograph of the hot dog was taken and the ketchup writting was placed on top of the key image to present the title of the documentary.

The Channel 4 logo was added to the print advert. This needs to be moved up to the centre of the right hand side so it is more visible.

The slogan, title and schedule was added to the print advert and a red Calibri font was selected to maintain the simplicity. The block of colour behind the text was set to a dark yellow colour to reflect on the mustard convention of a typical hot dog. This set the colour scheme.

Upon doing this I realised that not much was going on, thus, we decided to change the main image in the print advert to a burger. So the clarity is as good as this and so more is going on I will cut the burger in half to show what is on it. Someone will be holding the burger so it looks more realistic and so we know what it is. With a hot dog, it is difficult to hold into a position to show what it is so we are no longer using this idea.

New Ideas

- Have someone eating a takeout from the side
- Have someone eating a takeout, extreme close up of the food near their mouth
- Have someone holding a burger towards their mouth, extreme close up of the burger

We can use one of the above three images to use as our print advert's main image.

These are two copies of an idea for the print advert. One has the clarity altered, although it is difficult to see on a smaller copy. Another change to the second one is that some more of the background had been edited and made white so no unnecessary background is visible.

This is one of the final copies of the print advert created on Adobe Photoshop. This will be taken again as it is slightly distorted due to how close it was to the camera and there was a deep depth of field. I will take the photograph again with a Still Samsung Camera so the depth of field will be shallow, making the image clearer.

This is the original copy of the final print advert for our documentary.

This is the version with the text applied and the background edited onto a white background.

The Channel 4 logo has been added and now it will be moved up and into the centre of the right hand side. The colour may also be altered, as will the colour scheme, to make it more outstanding and noticable.

Here, the colour sacheme was changed so the text and Channel 4 logo stood out more and the logo was centered on the right hand side of the print advert. This is the final version of our print advert.
